About Junn and Flor
After graduation from high school, Junn worked with several construction companies at Sangley Point then under the US Armed Forces and at Nazareno Furniture in Cavite City. On November 1967, he applied for enlistment in the US Navy. He passed the US Navy exam and was sworn in as an enlisted man on February 16, 1968.
Junn and his then future wife Flor, grew up together and were neighbors at R. Basa and E. Mariano Streets in Cavite City. He had his eyes on her when she was a Freshman and he was a Senior at CNHS. He had been making some passes on her ever since. According to Junn, on his last day in the Philippines (at the Samonte Park for the last day with families and friends), before he was to be shipped out by the US Navy to San Diego for boot camp, he tried to get her to see him but they were not able to see each other; it was on the later part of February 1968, Flor was graduating then from high school. For 7 long years, Junn had been sending letters and postcards of every ports he visited to Flor, but she never answered any of his letters. Junn was never discouraged and he continued courting her. Medyo nagsawa yata si Flor sa kakukulit ni Junn, she finally relented to his proposals and they got married on May 1975 in the Philippines and was timely for Junn to attend the first Class Reunion of CNHS Class 65 which was held at Montano Hall. On January 21, 1978 the couple was blessed with a child, christened as Timothy James. After 16 years with them, on February 2, 1994, TJ as he was fondly called, passed away.
Retired from the U.S. Navy in July 1988, Junn got a new job at the Navy Commissary Store up to the present time. He is one of the prime movers of the Class in San Diego and together with other class members, was instrumental in organizing some of the US members of the Class to attend the 35th Anniversary celebration in the Philippines. Junn and Flor are among the benevolent and strong supporters of the CNHS Class 1965 Scholarship Foundation, Inc.
